Yaa is an interdisciplinary artist and computational biologist. She grew up in Newcastle Upon Tyne before moving to London to study, completing her PhD at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical medicine in 2020.

Recently, she has been incorporating computational biology methods into her artistic practice alongside her ongoing work in song, ceramics and textiles. In part to explore the legacy of the violence at the birth of the discipline of biology and in part to ask what now?

Creating spaces to collectively imagine futures, in light of what has gone before, was the genesis of her event series Tea Service. An evening of reflection, song and herbal tea drinking that she runs with Ruby Solomita.

Her work spans fine art, song (under her name, Yaa Adoma) and functional/wearable pieces (through her project, Zelluloze).

She is currently working on her first immersive collection.
